Perfect Your Patience by Brother Curtis Hansen
Good morning. We are going to be reading in a couple of places this morning. This message is a continuation of the one given on 8/9. We will begin with James chapter 5 and verses 7-8.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
Last Sunday, the message was getting ahead of God. God's will is in these holy scriptures. Does the Lord delight or does he prefer obedience? The Lord doesn't care for continual sacrifice to him; he wants his followers to obey his word. Samuel had figured this out and had seen bad leadership. You could look at the priest Eli and his wicked sons.
Sin is gradual. God shows up suddenly. Otherwise heading in the wrong direction. You're operating in emotion and foolish thinking. The Lord's will and the world's way led to two different outcomes.
Patience is a state of mind, a discipline to strengthen in your life. Patience is the key to a positive outcome in your life. God wants to be involved in your life. God wants to be involved in your life. Don't be emotional or bend to the spirit of rush. Filter your thoughts and actions through the word. Let's look at 1 Samuel chapter 15 verse 23.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath rejected thee from being king.
Iniquity is doing my way rather than God's way. Let patience have her perfect work on your anxiety. Stubbornness as iniquity and idolatry. We can make anything an idol. It's rooted in stubbornness.
Not every door is God's will. God will open doors but not all of them are in God's will. The things you care about may become an idol in your life. All doors are from God. What do you hold higher than God in your life?
Your role is predestined but your choices are not. Faith is not pretending that facts don't exist. Do you want to know how big your covering can reach? It can cover sinners that are in your life.
Establish your hearts. Don't let every lie shake your very foundation. Be grounded in something. Choose Jesus. Jesus has all the authority. Stop serving the devil by giving him credit for everything. All sins have 3 punishments which is fined, sentenced, or put to death.
In conclusion, don't call yourself a Christian and continue to do what you want.
