Before You Go to Judea, You Need to Know Who You Are In Galilee by Brother Curtis Hansen

Our scripture reading will be coming from John chapter 7 and starting with  verse 1. In the previous chapter we read about Jesus feeding a great multitude with 5 loaves of bread and two fish. We also read about Jesus walking the sea and ends with him explaining to the Jews that he is the true bread of life. His words spoken in Capernaum had angered and offended those including his disciples. By the start of chapter 7 Jesus has returned home to Galilee.         After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jew-ry, because the Jews sought to kill him.          2 Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand.          3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judea that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.          4 For there is no man that doeth any th...

What Ground Are You? (conclusion) by Brother Duke Hansen

Continuing on in our reading verse 24 of chapter 13. Jesus is now going to tell his disciples another parable.         24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:          25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.          26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.          27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?          28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?         Now a brief description of a tare is an injurious weed that resembl...

What Ground Are You? by Brother Duke Hansen

Everyone understands what a parable is this morning don't they? A parable is using earthly examples to understand the spiritual. Jesus coming to earth fulfills the prophecy given by prophets hundreds of years ago in the Old Testament. Today's scripture reading is the parable of the sower and we will turn to Matthew chapter 13 and begin with verse 1.         The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.          2 And great  multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.          3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold a sower went forth to sow;          4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:          5 Some fell upon the stony places where th...

Heart Protection Is Soul Protection (conclusion) by Brother Duke Hansen

Our scripture reading is going to go now to the book of Isaiah. We will be starting at verse 14 of the chapter. We have hardness in some parts of our heart, bondage, and some thought processes which have been corrupted by bad life experience and a wrong way of thinking. God wants you to have a life now! Walking in obedience and worship of him. There are moments in your walk where it isn't error that puts you in the press. God sometimes bends you in a direction. He wants you to walk into glory in the end. He's not the superman who will put all of man on his shoulder in rescue.          14 Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.          15 I am the LORD, the Holy One, the creator of Israel your King.          16 T...

Heart Protection is Soul Protection by Brother Duke Hansen

Throughout the course of time in the scriptures, there were  behaviors and opinions that formed out of protest. God would give his prophets words to say in correction or in warning, and the people would not pay heed, or they would continue in their sin. A hard truth that applies then applies today. If God is going to take you down personally, no one can stop it. If God is going to raise you up, no one can stop it. Man has this inflated sense of self worth in himself that he is above God, or God doesn't exist because none of the things in the scripture have materialized and "I've heard about the end times all my life." Please understand that there were men and women walking upright before the Lord and following him in the scripture, but the greater part of the nation continued in wickedness and sin. As a believer and follower in Christ, it is upon me to repeat what I said a couple of weeks ago. You need to guard the door of your hear...

Isaiah: The Messianic Prophet by Brother Curtis Hansen

The prophet we are going to study about in this lesson is Isaiah. Isaiah foresaw Christ as a suffering servant who would bring comfort, hope, and restoration to Israel and would be the light of salvation to the Gentiles. The lesson text is going to be the 53rd chapter of Isaiah. We will begin at verse 1.         1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?          2 For he shall grow before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor  comeliness; and when we  shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.          3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.          4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we di...

The Importance of Memorials by Brother Curtis Hansen

We are going to begin this morning's message with a  definition. The definition is for memorial. A memorial is something, especially a structure, established to remind people of a person or event. There are holidays designated through the calendar year which we observe as memorials for things. Memorial Day, Veterans Day, 4th of July. What we need to be reminded of is that memorials are something we pass down to the next generation.           There are two points to look at and examine. The reason for memorials and the point of them. Our scripture reading is in Joshua chapter 3 and starting at verse 9. A quick recap as to what is getting ready to happen. Joshua and the children of Israel are getting ready to cross the Jordan River. They have just left Shittim.         9 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the ...

Joel: Prophet of Pentecost by Brother Curtis Hansen

Today we are going to look at the small book of Joel. We are going to start at chapter 2 and the 15th verse. Before we begin, I want to give a thought for you to focus upon. God confirmed His word with many signs and wonders by the outpouring of His spirit on the Day of Pentecost.         15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:          16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.          17 Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?        ...
