Cutting the Connection by Brother Curtis Hansen

Good  morning. Welcome to the Easter service and our message is not going to be a traditional message of the stone rolled away and empty tomb. It's recorded in all four gospels which you can read at any time. Easter is more than a moment for people. It is a symbol of a lot of things. Some symbolism is centered on emotion. To believers, Easter symbolizes the dispensation of grace. To me, Easter means, "Those who have seen me have seen the father," and "Whosoever believes in me shall be saved." Easter is about joy, renewal, forgiveness, submission.           If you look at individuals in the  Bible, the heroes of faith, you would see that they are not perfect in their life and that they had made mistakes. In the accounts of men like Noah, Abraham, Moses, Samuel, even David, they all made mistakes but the difference was that they learned from them. When Jesus calls a person out, he leads them wit...

Are You Being Drawn? by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning we are going to be reading from a few different books from the gospels. If you can, go ahead and turn to Matthew chapter 21. These scriptures are accounts of one event which we are observing this morning and that is Palm Sunday. In the gospels, Jesus was revealing himself to the public starting when he was 12 years old. You should recall the time Joseph and Mary had left after passover but Jesus lingered in the temple, speaking to the elders and listening to them. The account of this is in the book of Luke 2:41-52. Jesus was revealing himself through his words and actions. We also reveal ourself through the same ways, but are we Christ like in doing so? It is a sad reality that God's people are worse than the world when it comes to loving one another. We have no understanding about things such as reverence. We know all about the scripture that involves "me" or "I" or "mine" and so on. Let's begin reading at verse 1 from Matth...

Pray and Not Faint by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning we are going to read from the book of Luke. We will be at chapter 18 and starting with the first verse. Before we  begin reading this morning I want to say that God does not override your character in your walk. You can repent, be water baptized and spirit filled, but you still have to mortify your flesh. There is no such thing as an honest sinner. Now, it's good when you speak of being in sin because you recognize it as you begin your walk. If you are truly determined to grow your faith, you should also begin to grow out of accepting sin as a given because you're covered in grace.          There are bad situations in life that you will come across. Situations like a death in the family, illness, loss of home or a job. It is these moments that require faith in action. Faith in action is  through prayer. Many of us are not our true self in public. What people see when ...

A Biblical History Lesson by Brother Duke Hansen

Good morning. This morning we are going to reading from several different places in scripture today. We are going to look at one specific place that is visited and revisited in the Bible. We will go first to the book of Genesis chapter 22. We will start reading at verse 1. This chapter should be very familiar to many of you. It is the story of Abraham and his son Isaac.          And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.           2  And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom  thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.           3  And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with...

Judge Yourself and Not Others by Brother Curtis Hansen

Good morning. If you will, please turn to the book of Romans. We are going to start reading from the first verse. We are going to read the majority of this chapter.          Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.         Let's start at the very beginning. Receive those weak in the faith. When you started your relationship, were you weak in the faith? Are you weak in the faith this morning? When Paul wrote this letter, it was to the church there in Rome. This letter wasn't written to the city of Rome itself. The word disputation is defined as debate or argument. Now, there are some denominations which apply guidelines and restrictions into what they believe in an attempt to prevent any potential sin. Some denominations have restricted tv or music. Yes, Jesus spoke about garbage in garbage out in the book of Mark. What you take in comes out in ...
