Gleaning and Grieving by Brother Curtis Hansen

This morning, we are going to go to the book of Ruth and the 1st chapter. We will begin at verse 19. Now, everyone here is pretty familiar with the story of Ruth where she did some work out in the field and a guy named Boaz spotted her. A bit of a quick summary to be sure, but what we are going to do is go about the story from another direction.         19 So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?          20 And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me          21 I went out full, and the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?          22 So Naomi returned...

The Perfect Gift by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning our scripture is going to be in the book of James. The 1st chapter of James to be exact. James lays out something profound that goes along with what was spoke about at length this past Sunday regarding getting rid of your vices. If you are content in your self-righteousness and continue to intermingle with the world, God will leave you alone to it. If you want to daily convince yourself you are fine based on  feelings rather than lining up to the word of God, you will be turned over by God.           God gives believers all the answers needed in the scripture, but too often our  flesh prefers compromise than confrontation. There are a lot of denominations and churches this mornings ducking and dodging the hard truths throughout the Bible to appease the flesh and not offend carnal sensibilities. We are going to start reading in verse 17 of James c...

No, You're Not Ready (conclusion) by Brother Duke Hansen

Now if you would, turn over to 1 Corinthians chapter 3. We will start reading from verse 13 to 17.         13 Every man's work shall be made manifest; for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.          14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.          15 If any man's works all be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.          16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?         17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.         The fire mentioned in the scripture tries us, puts us into the press, attacks d...

No, You're Not Ready (part 1) by Brother Duke Hansen

Before we begin this morning's sermon, I wanted to establish something that many of us do not consider. The reality you know is fashioned by your immediate past. I'm not speaking about when you were a kid growing up, but I am talking about 2 weeks ago. Our memories keep falling away to that of a goldfish. However, because we are only living in the moment, we do not pay attention to history of any kind, so  we end up making or repeating mistakes either personally or collectively.           Our first scripture reading will be coming from the book of Luke chapter 8. We will start at verse 41. It is a very familiar story that has been shared and gone over repeatedly behind this pulpit.          41 And, behold, there came a man named Jarius, and he was a ruler of the  synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet. and besought him that he would come into his house:    ...

Let God Lead (Paul and Philippi) by Brother Curtis Hansen

This morning we are going to continue on the sermon began last Sunday October 30th. The subject is Let God Lead. There were four points given in last  Sunday's message. Point one, you need to understand the goodness of God. Point two, you need to turn to the word of God. The third point was, Things I need to know that are not in the Bible. The fourth and final point is Wait on God to put desires on your heart.          God has purposes for you and me in our life, but we have plans that sometimes do not align with those purposes. A good example of this point which you can read later is in Genesis chapter 16. Abraham and Sarah being advanced in years are told they will have a son, but there was no time set as to when it would happen. Abraham and Sarah get ahead of God and Ishmael is born to the slave Hagar. Sometimes, you and I can be in a waiting period where the longer the wait, the greater our frustration buil...
