God Loves Jacob by Brother Duke Hansen

The church is a tree which grows from a seed. The last book before the gospels, Malachi, has a lot of things written which can be paralleled to the present day. We are going to be reading from the book of Malachi, beginning in chapter 1 and the first verse.         The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi.          Malachi was the last prophet of old that wrote and testified to the country of Israel before the 400 plus years of silence to the Jewish nation. Note at the start of this verse, it's a burden.         2 I hav loved you, saith the Lord, Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the Lord: yet I loved Jacob.          It is easy to cry out to God for favor but it's difficult to follow his commandments. It's hard to stand in from of the Lord as a son or daughter.         3 And ...

Dads and Fathers by Brother Duke Hansen

What is the world spiritually and physically? Scripture tells us that we need to separate form the world but d we know the extent and details of what the world is? This morning, as we recognize Fathers Day, we will be reading from the book of 1 John chapter 12. We will be reading from verse 12.         12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.          Little children is not a literal description. It's a metaphor for newborn Christian believers. Little children are perfect in his name's sake. There are expectations that come with a child. You're transformed but you also have baggage from the world you need to unpack.         13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye ha...

Bearing With God by Brother Duke Hansen

Good morning. This Sunday, June 8, we observe Pentecost Sunday. We are going to be reading from the 2nd letter to the church in Corinth this morning. We will be in the 11th chapter of 2 Corinthians and start in verse 1.          Paul was in a battle with his flesh. He was always building up his spirit and tearing down his flesh. There's different levels of grounds away from common ground.           In chapter 10 of 2 Corinthians, Paul was writing to the church that the real fight they face was not a physical one but a spiritual one. Paul was not just a mere doer of the truth, he was zealous about the truth. Let's begin with verse 1.         Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.          Paul leads this chapter with a bit of boasting as well as sarcasm. It leads into a very spiritual portion of s...

Fear, Lust, and Control by Brother Curtis Hansen

The letters to both Timothy and Titus are not limited to the struggling believer. These letters addressed members of the churches established from the top down. With the amount of instruction and guidance in these epistles, it begs for me to ponder, if it's not about your works for walk, why does Paul consistently press upon them in his letters?          The subject this morning is about fear, lust, and control. We will be reading in a couple of places, beginning in 2 Timothy chapter 3 at the first verse.         This know also, that in the last day perilous times shall come.          2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,          3 Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,    ...
