Dependence and Deliverance by Brother Curtis Hansen

I want to begin by asking you this question. What do you do when trouble comes in your life? Now, there are two different types of responses to this situation. One is a person to run and tell everyone everything they are going through. They seek attention or validation for their problems. The other  person is one who is trying to be God over their problem. Their thought process is how can I engineer, manipulate, and control the outcome. These people are essentially trying to control the things they have no control over.           It takes humility to go to God. No one who is prideful can get a hold of him. Have you ever considered that some of the things you struggle with in your flesh, God has allowed them for you to reach out and depend on him?           We are going to be reading from Mark chapter 5 this morning. We will start reading with verse 22.     ...

Pursuing Unity Amidst Division by Brother Duke Hansen

Our message this morning is going to be a continuation of the message that was given on August 11th. Our first scripture reading will be from the book of Ephesians at the 4th chapter. The  natural default setting man has is to cause division, separation, and chaos. Unity and harmony are against human nature. When you are unified in something, you aren't thinking of yourself or what you stand to gain. You aren't the center of the world or the main character of a story. The church at large in our country has ignored or refused to grapple with the text in the Bible showing suffering will bring growth to the perfection of the saints. Yes, your decisions can bring you suffering. If you are seeking God's face and drawing closer to him, he will try you in order for you to remove the junk and impurities you have in your character. People would rather think on the good things and heavenly rewards without applying any work towa...

Different Seasons by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning we will be reading from the book of Hebrews. Specifically we will be reading chapter 2 and starting with verse 10. Often times the underlying disappointment or frustration people have in their  relationship is due to bad teaching, the misinterpretation of scripture for modern ears, or the overall Americanization of the gospel. You know where you the reader are never at fault, highly blessed and favored, and any suffering or shortcoming is always from the devil. The truth of the subject is often God allows suffering of his people for their sanctification and perfection. True believers know that this temporal body and the things it accumulates are all fleeting. The goal is getting to the beyond.           We are perfected in our walk through suffering. There are promises in the scripture for you to discover. The first promise is the Holy Spirit. It is on you to study and read the scriptures t...

Move Forward by Brother Curtis Hansen

When we read scripture in the  Bible, it is not uncommon to place ourself in the hero's shoes. It could be David slaying Goliath, Paul witnessing and encouraging the early church, Elijah against the prophets of Ba'al. We shouldn't adopt that mindset. Our flesh wants to place our life on the same plane as the heroes of faith. The trials heroes of faith in scripture faced were separate from ours today. If we want to be completely honest, we are more aligned with the troop hiding in the ditch while Goliath was calling out the Israelites. We tend to hitch our faith to the heroes themselves rather than their acts.          This morning we are going to read from 2 Corinthians chapter 5. It will be verse 7.         7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)         I want to ask a question, before this message begins, for you to ask yourself...

No, Not Now, and Not You by Brother Curtis Hansen

This morning we will be reading from the book of John in chapter 2. We will start reading at verse 1.         And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:          2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.          3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.          4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I yet to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.          5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.          6 And there were set there six waterspouts of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.          7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterspouts with water. ...
