Putting Away the Wicked by Brother Duke Hansen

The scripture text we will be reading from will be in 1st Corinthians chapter 5. We will be reading the first 13 verses.         1 It is reported commonly that there us fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.          2 And ye are puffed up, and have not mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.          3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,          4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ when ye are gathered together, and my spirit with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ.          5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may b...

Faith/Doubt by Brother Curtis Hansen

Before we get into the message this morning, let us talk about the  Bible. Now the Bible can be seen with portions almost as an instruction manual by some. Instructions on how to be saved, how to pray, how to be healed, etc. Often we may have this false idea or notion of how we should look and sound in our walk. What we need to be from the carnal idea of what counts as a "good christian". If we somehow meet this ideal, we will be full of peace and happiness day to day. It would be somehow easy to just obtain whatever we request from God. Our carnal self can get so wrapped up in that idea that if we never feel a sense of accomplishment in our appearance, doubt will settle in.  So, while you can view the Bible as an instruction manual, you should know that the Bible as a whole is a model of who God is and it teaches you in who he is. Recognizing the battles going on within you and not ignoring them, we can apply who God is in the...

Protecting Your Vessel by Brother Curtis Hansen

Our scripture reading is going to come from the book of Acts. Turn to chapter 28 where we will read the first 10 verses.          1 And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.          2 And the barbarous people showed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.         3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.         4 And when the barbarians see the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the  sea, yet vengeance sufferers not to live.          5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no h...

Two Conversations by Brother Duke Hansen

Our message is going to begin first out of Matthew chapter 9. We will start reading at verse 10 and read down to verse 17. In this scripture, Jesus has two separate  conversations that will lead us onto a much bigger message he wants to share with his people.         10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.         11 And the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?         12 But when Jesus heard that he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.         13 But go ye and lean what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.          14 Th...

Ready or Not by Brother Duke Hansen

Our scripture reading is from the letter 1 Thessalonians chapter 15. We will be looking at the first 15 verses.         1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.          2 For Yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.          3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.          4 But ye,  brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.          5 Ye are children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.          6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.          7 Fo...

A Bitter Situation Brings a Poisonous Outcome by Brother Duke Hansen

In the flesh, how you treat someone whether good, bad, or indifferent they will do the same to someone else. It's passing your influence onto others. This also goes on in the spiritual sense. For example, if you are around someone who carries a gossiping spirit or one that surmises evil, often times you could be vulnerable to those spirits and spread them to others. As we look at the big picture today, the presence of gray where there should be black and white sands off the fundamental differences between the world and a lot of churches. At this very moment, the church needs more God given light and not light devised by man. There needs to be a casting off of poor man thinking or blue collar thinking. Poor has nothing to do with money, and everything with your mindset. That mindset is on you, your actions, deeds, your fault. If we really want to get our flesh upset, we could look up Jesus' point of view involving fairness, on giving, on ...

How To Be Built Different by Brother Curtis Hansen

This morning's scripture is going to be 1 Peter chapter 2. Before we read the scripture, a little background for you. When Peter is writing this letter, it was to the church in Jerusalem. Paul had been establishing churches on his missionary trips. At the time of this letter being written, Peter was sitting in prison in Rome. Our focus verses will be verses 4 and 5. We will begin at verse 1.         1 Wherefore  laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,         This list we will come back to in a little while. It's a list that could get it's own sermon though.         2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:         3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.         4 To whom  coming, as unto a livi...

What Do We Forgive? by Brother Duke Hansen

We are going to begin by turning to the book of Matthew chapter 6. We will begin at verse 14 and 15. The scripture is from Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. He says in verse 14;         For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you:          But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses.         There are great heights to heaven and to righteousness, as well as seemingly bottomless depths to hell and despair. In the gospels, Jesus is talking about not just the church, but also the world, men, and women. Forgiveness does not come down to, "because I have to", nor has it ever worked that way in life. Your heart and your mind need to work together for it to truly be effective.           If you truly want to know if God has forgiven you in life, look how you have...
