Commandments and Circumvention by Brother Curtis Hansen

We are going to be reading from a couple of different places this morning for the message. Our first scripture is going to be in the book of 1 Corinthians, the 6th chapter. In the time of his ministry on earth, Jesus spoke at times to the crowds, the Pharisees, foreigners, and his disciples. There was a clear separation he showed in his teachings, where with the public he would speak in parables. His disciples, he would have a more substantive talk. We should have a separation in our walk today. You should set boundaries of what you allow in your life away from church, and you should have more of a open spirit here in church. Be Kindly, Christ like, shine the light to people who may not be a brother or sister in God, but be separate from the world. Stand out with a purpose.          When Paul wrote his 1st letter to the church in Corinth, he was addressing things which were in the ch...

Come To the Fountain by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning, we are going to be reading from the book of Zechariah. It will be the 13th chapter, beginning at verse 1. If you wanted to know about the purpose for this book, it would be that 1) God used His prophets to teach, warn and correct his people.  Unfortunately, they wouldn't listen and their sin would bring about God's punishment. 2) It also bears evidence of prophecy being corrupted in this time. In a historical sense, we are moving between testaments in the Bible, where there is no lasting prophetic voice that speaks before Jesus comes to earth. This brings us to 3) This particular chapter is about the coming of Jesus and his significance for those who believe upon him.          We all move through this life where we are approached by people who carry various grievances, slights, pain, suffering, over things that they went through in their life which they never have overcome. Their bad times...

Persistence For the Right Things by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning we are going to go to the book of Matthew chapter 19. We will begin reading starting at verse 1. Our  focus this morning is an interaction in this book, which also is recorded in two other gospels.          And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea beyond Jordan;          2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.          3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?         In the time of Jesus' ministry, it was not uncommon for men to marry multiple times in the course of his life. Polygamy was still very much a thing in this age.         4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made t...

Recipe For Revival by Brother Curtis Hansen

This morning we are going to turn to the book of Jude. For those here unsure where the book is located in the  Bible, it is right before the book of Revelation. Jude is a very short book, containing no chapter headings. We will begin to read at verse 1.         Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:          2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.          3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should honestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.         It is somewhat common for people today to speculate what kind of letter the apostle Paul would write to the christian church at large...

Build Your Own Memorials by Brother Duke Hansen

Good morning. If you will, turn to the book of Joshua chapter 3. This scripture should be very familiar to many of you. The background for our scripture selection is this. Moses had passed and Joshua from Nun has taken charge of leading the  Israelites into Canaan. They have to cross the Jordan River first. It is commanded of them by Joshua to sanctify themselves before the crossing. We are going to start reading with verse 7.         7 And the Lord  said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.          8 And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.          9 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the ...
