True Gospel Notes

         This morning we will be reading in a couple of places. The first place will be in the book of Ezekiel chapter 33. Our second scripture selection is in 2 Peter.          You've been taught or have heard through your life that when good things happen to someone, it's because of God. When bad things happen to someone, it's from the devil. We carry this simple binary mindset through life. The scripture strikes down this mindset as not so. Let's begin reading with verse 1.         Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,          2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchmen:          Look at verse 2 for this line; "When I bring the sword upon a land."          Good morning. We are going to be reading from the book of Ephesians chapter 4, beginning with verse 17. This chapter is about exhortation, unity and the new man. Our message is going to be focused on morality this morning.         17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.          If you lean upon your understanding you fall into your own destruction. Knowledge does come from the Lord but can from other sources.         18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:          Everyone wants to like the Israelites of the old testament where in they often would worship both Ba'al and still go to the temple on the sabbath.          Before we get into the message this morning, I want to come back to a question which I posed last Sunday. Are you really wanting freedom or are we merely satisfied with God'd provision in our life? This morning, we are going to be reading from Matthew chapter 9 and verses 14-17.         14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but the disciples fast not?          This is a valid question posed by the disciples of John regarding fasting. John's message was that fasting would kill your flesh. What we will read though is that there's always more than a simple answer from Jesus. In all four gospels, Jesus would expound further than just a mere brief and simple answer.         15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bride chamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom ...

         Often times, God will allow life to turn to overbearing, oppressive, and potentially disastrous for us as believers. When this occurs, our flesh will cry out in complaint and wonder if we have been forgotten or forsaken by God. You need to realize is that these times are often to get our 5 senses focused on the direction God wants to give you.          This morning, we will be reading from the book of 1 Timothy chapter 6. We will be reading starting at verse 1.         Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.          2 And they that have believing masters, let them nor despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them serivce, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit.
