The Growth Formula For Stronger Faith by Brother Duke Hansen

There are a couple of places we are going to read from this morning. The first place we need to turn to is the book of Matthew chapter 17. We will start reading at verse 14 to verse 21.          14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,          15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is a lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falls into the fire, and oft into the water.          16 And I brought him to thy disciples. and they could not cure him.          17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.          18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.        ...

Going Through the Storm to Claim Victory (conclusion) by Brother Curtis Hansen

Let us move to the second point and that's Legion. Much like the man who carried the legion of evil spirits, where he was in the cemetery breaking chains and fetters, we can put ourselves in situations, go to dead areas in our life and set up a house there. Do not  disassociate because you are not cutting yourself or hang around in the cemetery. You always need to have set boundaries in your life.          When the boat carrying Jesus had landed on Gadarenes the man with unclean spirits ran to him. It's recorded that he was unable to be bound by chains. Those spirits could break free of the chains. Today we will try and chain up our devil through medication or psychology. Evil spirits know how to break chains and locks, but a lot of Christians will stay latched to a  chain and just shrug their shoulders saying "that's life!"        ...

Going Through the Storm to Claim Victory (part 1) by Brother Curtis Hansen

Our scripture reading is going to be in the book of Mark this morning. If you may remember the last sermon given by Brother Curtis on July 3, the scripture was in the same chapter which we will read from today. However, we are going to go back to the 36th verse of the 4th chapter. It's going to set up some things before we get into the text for this morning's sermon.          36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.          37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.          38 And he was asleep in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, care thou not that we perish?          39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the s...

Mercy and the Formula to Freedom (conclusion) by Brother Duke Hansen

God will not only give you favor in your walk but also in understanding. If God shows you mercy and truth when you are searching yourself and discover something hidden or a flaw, and you demonstrate discipline in working to overcoming it, God will help you overcome it as well. Tests, whether they be in school or in real life, ultimately reveal knowledge of what you know. Trials are not tests, but we confuse the two frequently. We go through trails to arrive at the test. If you fail the test, you sometimes have to back to the trial. We have to really pay attention through our trials in order to learn the lesson. Not only learning the lesson but applying patience by waiting on the Lord. I'm not waiting on God if I follow the world's advice and not the scripture. If you have faith, true faith, you are going to read and study the word, pray and cry out to God, seek his face. The results may vary, but God remains the same....

Mercy and the Formula to Freedom by Brother Duke Hansen

Situations and opportunities in life  dictate your measure of trust in life. What you experience and react towards over the course of your life can increase or decrease your level of trust in not only to other men or rulers and lawmakers, but to God himself. In a race that's not a sprint but a marathon, people, more specifically Christians, feel like they won first in the race though they finished 10th place out of 10 runners. When we look at figures in the Bible, Solomon was the wisest man. The book of Proverbs is intimidating to some people given its structure because Solomon can drop a word of wisdom in one chapter and readdress it several chapters later. We are going to be in Proverbs chapter 3 this morning. We are going to read the first 7 verses, with our focus verse being verse 5.         1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:         ...

The Ax Is Laid Unto the Root of the Trees (conclusion) By Brother Duke Hansen

Now please turn to Romans chapter 8. There are a number of messages you could take from this chapter alone. I want you to know that when you sow into the spirit and reap in the spirit, obstacles in your life are removed. Mountains that seemed unconquerable are crumbled. You should write every victory God has given you and your walk to re-read and reflect. Those moments added up should build and strengthen your faith. We are going to start in verse 5 and read to verse 14. Something key for you to remember and that's to trust in God and not in the vices and various advices of the world.         5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.          6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.          7 Because the carnal mind is enmity(...

The Axe Is Laid Unto the Root of the Trees by Brother Duke Hansen

We have a couple of places we are going to read in the Bible this morning. The first scripture we are going to read is in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 11 starting at the first verse. Our selection is about sowing into  spiritual things. It does not make your life better to see anyone's junk but your own. God is not revealing someone else's faults to you. The devil can assist you with that and cause you to overstep in your walk. There are too many who think if someone is nice to them, that's a sign they are blessed and favored. Someone nice or showing you favor when you don't deserve it, does not mean you are saved or even well liked.          1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.          2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knows what evil shall be upon the earth.          3 If the clouds be...

Remove the Mourning Before the Miracle by Brother Curtis Hansen

This morning the scripture reading will be from the book of Mark chapter 5. We will start at verse 35 but before we read this selection, the previous 34 verses in this chapter is packed with miracles Jesus performed. In the beginning of chapter 5 Jesus cast out the unclean spirits from the man dwelling among the tombs. Take note for reading later in verse 7 the legion of demons cried with a loud voice after the man ran and worshipped Jesus. The unclean spirit was known as Legion and the devils went toward a herd of pigs, causing the herd to run violently down toward the sea. By the time we get to verse 20 Jesus has boarded a ship, word has spread of what he was doing. We will start here at verse 22.         22 And behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet.          23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lies at...
