Called to Victory and Not Merely Forgiveness by Brother Curtis Hansen

This morning our scripture reading will be out of the book of 1 Corinthians. We will be in the 15th chapter starting at verse 53. Paul is nearing the end of his first letter to the church in Corinth.         53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on  immortality.          54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in  victory.          55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?          56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.          57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory though our Lord Jesus Christ.          58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be y...

Learning and Using God's Power by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning, we will be in a couple of places in the scripture. We are first going to the book of Psalms. Psalm 116 and we will begin to read from verse 1.         I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications .         2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him, as long as I live.         Out of the many people in the Bible, no one knew praise more than King David. Not only did the man write psalms to the Lord, he also made instruments to play for the Lord. David was many things in his life before he became king. He was a shepherd, a battle tested warrior, a fugitive. Because David was many things before he would take the throne, and other people of faith did many things in their life, many christians today elevate these people. Man is never content to be satisfied by what is in scripture and ...

Remove the Leaven by Brother Duke Hansen

One of the commandments God gave to the church is to "watch and pray". If you are following the basics of your faith, you are pushing against the  opposition spirit, the enemy as well as your own flesh nature. Applying yourself daily to your walk with God is key to being the light others are seeking.          There is a common question man asks throughout the history of Christianity and that is about the specifics of God's commands. Man will ask of the scripture if God's commands are somewhat like basic or even a little vague to be interpreted. There is a belief today as then that God is somewhat disengaged from his people so he is not outlining specifics to his people today. In the 12th chapter of Exodus, there are directions given on the passover before the last plague in Egypt.  That plague was where the first born of all creatures had been slain. That's a hard thing to read about for our flesh man to understand...

Giving and In Prayer by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning we will be reading from the book of Matthew chapter 6. We will start at the 1st verse. Jesus is still giving the Sermon on the Mount in this  passage and is speaking about giving. Giving of one's time or money or to others in need is unnatural to man's flesh.         Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.         When Jesus speaks of reward in this verse, it isn't what most people think of when you mention the name of reward. Usually most people think of a large sum of money from winning the jackpot of the lottery. A principle that you need to remember this morning is Don't take God's patience with you as acceptance of you and your life.           2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in t...

Which Spirit Will You Follow? by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning, we will be touching on several scriptures for the sermon. If we really would dig in deep into the text, this would be a very long message. As such, we will have some text, with other passages given to you. You can take those passages and read them this week in your spare time. It is important that you make time to read God's word. The first place we will start reading from is in the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 2. We will start at the 11th verse.         11 For what man knoweth the things of man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.         There is a tendency among people in raising and teaching their children in the spirit of man. The spirit of man has thoughts, opinions, and lessons on a whole swath of subjects ranging from sin, emotion, lust, suffering, rebellion, business, commerce. Those last two...

Four Steps for Preparation by Brother Curtis Hansen

There are couple of places we will look at in the Bible regarding the subject of this sermon. The first  scripture will be in the book of Joshua chapter 1 verse 2. Tonight's message is about getting prepared to be used by God. When you become born again, you are baptized in Jesus name, when you receive the Holy Ghost, you haven't arrived in your walk. You have just found yourself on the starting line. There are steps you will need to take to prepare yourself for God's use. Let us look at verse 2.          2 Moses my servant is dead, now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give them, even to the children of Israel.         As the book of Joshua begins, Moses had just died outside of the promised land, and the instruction God gives to Joshua was Arise. Arise means prepare for your calling. Be awake. When the Israelite...

Three Battles by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning we will be reading from two or three different books for this message. The first place you will need to turn to in your bibles is the book of Romans chapter 7. We will start at verse 7.         7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.          8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.          9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.          10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.          11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.          12 Wherefore...
