Let God Lead (Laying A Foundation) by Brother Curtis Hansen

We sort of touched on this subject a couple of weeks ago. The larger point that I am making is Let God Lead your life. The goal this morning is to begin laying a foundation to build from next week. There are a lot of verses to read from this morning, so be ready with your  bible.          The first point to be made is God wants to lead your life.  When we make decisions in our life, they are usually made off our experiences and our past. Our experiences and past a lot of times are not a good barometer to use in judgement. If anything as you grow more mature and strive for righteousness in your walk, you should see things in your character which need to change. God wants to lead you into righteousness.           Let us touch upon the goodness of God. God is good in whatever situation he was in. There are some situations where we need to follow God. There are parts of ou...

Faith, Trust, and the Difference Between Them by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning's scripture is going to come from the book of Proverbs chapter 3, where we will read a few verses. The subject of this morning's sermon is about trust and faith. These are two things you need to have a close walk with God. They are two things many think they have in their walk, and they are two things which can be very hard to find. We will start reading in verse 1 of chapter 3.         1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments.         There are many different stories in the Old Testament when the people would get close to God was when a prophet came to town with the rod of correction in his hand. The people in turn would kill the prophet for bringing the truth and correction. Now, if you do not know Good's commandments, you will not be able to follow them. You are going to have to read and study the commandments to hold them.     ...

Learning to Follow by Brother Curtis Hansen

Good morning. The scripture reading we will have is from the book of Galatians chapter 3. We will begin at verse 3. The apostle Paul is speaking to the church in this letter and one of the points of this chapter is that righteous people should live by faith. People that live by the Law is more of a performance. Let's read shall we starting with verse 3.         3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?          4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? If it be yet in vain.          5 He therefore that  ministers to you the Spirit, and works miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?         If you go through the entire Bible and read the different mighty men of God, the change comes quickly to them. Believers today don't want that q...

Praise In the Last Days by Brother Duke Hansen

Division has always been present in scripture. Two groups to look at for deep division are the Pharisees and Sadducees. They were similar in that both were of the ruling class of their day.  They had distinct doctrines that put them at odds. The Sadducees didn't believe in the resurrection of the dead or in the afterlife while the Pharisees did. Paul would exploit these  differences when he was on trial in the book of Acts. If you get a chance to, read Luke chapter 12 starting in verse 49. Jesus himself had said he was not here to give peace but division. So, when you have handwringing and whining of how awful things are within denominations that are splitting over doctrine, remember that this is nothing new. It is in mankind to divide and separate for himself.          If you look at King David in the  Old Testament, you see a highly emotional Pentecost at work. His pr...

Pivot to Praise by Brother Curtis Hansen

This morning's scripture is going to come from the book of 1 Chronicles chapter 16 starting at the 7th verse. To give a little background here before we begin. King David is wanting the ark of the covenant brought back to Jerusalem. In 2nd Samuel chapter 6 verses 3-8 and the 13th chapter of 1 Chronicles verses 7-11, both books recount of what happened to a Levite named Uzzah. The ark was being transported by cart pulled by oxen. Uzzah had reached out his hand to take hold of the ark after a stumble and God struck Uzzah down dead. Moving later, the ark is in Jerusalem, David has celebrated in the street where his wife Michal was disappointed and disrespected him publicly. She was cursed by God to have no children afterwards. So with this background established, we begin at verse 7 of 1 Chronicles 16.             7 Then on  that day David delivered from this ps...
