I See You by Brother Curtis Hansen

         This morning's scripture is going to come from the book of John. We will be reading from chapter 1 beginning at verse 43 to 49.


        43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Phillip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

        44 Now Phillip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter,

        45 Phillip findeth Nathaniel, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

        46 And Nathaniel said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Phillip saith unto him, Come and see,

        47 Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

        48 Nathaniel saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Phillip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

        49 Nathaniel answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.


        The main thought is before Nathaniel saw Jesus, Jesus saw Nathaniel. Often times moments add up to a meeting. Nathaniel was probably already aware that a messiah was coming. Phillip didn't over explain or begged Nathaniel to come with him.

        You don't have to over explain your decisions to any person. Before we seek God, God already sees us. A fundamental trait of people is the desire to be seen, noticed, understood, and valued. Jesus knew Nathaniel and anticipated the conversation.

        Nathaniel was curious. You should stay curious and not get tied into legalism. Curious leads to a look, a conversation, a relationship with God.

        God sees us before we see him. God will meet you where you are at. Look at his meeting with Moses in Exodus or Hagar in the wilderness with her son Ishmael. Zaccheus had climbed up in a tree looking for Jesus.

        We don't have to make a mountain out of a molehill. You don't know the internal push and pull of others, so quit trying to figure them out. You want to be anointed by God, you need to obey the word.

        God sees your needs and God hears your prayers. God sees what others can't see. God doesn't use the same thing twice in connecting with people.

        Jesus saw past Nathaniel's appearance and straight to his character. You cannot bear fruit with roots entrenched in the world. The world sees mistakes, past, and reputation. God sees the heart, the struggle, potential, and the future of your life. As Christians, you should look for the same things in people in witnessing or talking to others. Look for their curiosity. 

        God sees and calls us by our potential. Be curious and ask questions. God sees us in our secret places. Jesus specifically speaks about the fig tree in the scripture. He sees our secret place, private tears, and quiet walk.

        When you know you are seen by God, it changes everything. Nathaniel replied to the truth about Jesus in verse 49. If your world is being shifted and upended, you need to be standing and let God handle things.

        The devil and flesh are your own worst enemy. The devil merely plants seeds. The flesh is impulsive and can run unchecked in your life. Your attachment to the world is a fleshly comfort.

           Good morning. This message is for Easter 2026. It will not be the retelling of the story of Jesus' resurrection. Instead, we are going to turn to the book of Romans chapter 8 and begin reading with verse 3.          3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh;          In Judaism before the time of Jesus' ministry, the people would sacrifice different animals as offerings in the temple.          Our text we will read is the parable of the vineyard. We will looking at Matthew chapter 21 and verse 33 for the parable. However, before with that text, let's look up 10 verses to verse 23. Let's see what led to the telling of the parable.         23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority.          The authority that the chief priests and elders asked Jesus about was from God.
