Are You a Seed Of a Generation? By Brother Duke Hansen
This morning we are going to be reading from Psalm 22. There's a lot of things in this psalm many of us need to hear this morning. There are real battles going on with the enemy, however the majority of our fights are with our resistant flesh. The thing we need to understand is the difference between the two. We will begin reading with verse 1.
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
David is a literary example of no matter how close you get to God, your flesh will keep you attached to your sinful nature. Confess your faults one to another because the devil will use them later against you.
2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
David was a musician, a composer of songs, and a maker of instruments during his life. David had his family to protest at one time along with opportunistic fighters seeking to gain while David was on the run.
Greed is for the lust of the world. Like Ruth who sat her course in her story, so can you can chart your course.
3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
I don't know where you are, I've searched in the day and night, but I know you are holy. We could all follow this example in praying to God.
4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, ad thou didst deliver them.
5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confouded.
6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him, he delighted in him.
Some of your paths walked are so hidden, your light so dim, your relationship to the world so strong, you have no clue what the scorn verse 7 speaks about.
There's always going to be excuses, reasons, escapes, diversions, distractions that prevent and are used by people every Sunday. The real labor and work are the suffering and pain experienced daily.
9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.
11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
David recognizes that he was God's, even from his birth. Likewise, we should seek God as what is being said in verse 11.
12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, and all bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
God would place David in a situation or allowed him into something treacherous. David is experiencing things through prophecy of what happens in Jesus' final moments upon the cross.
16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
19 But be not thou far from me, O Lord: O my strength. haste thee to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
22 I will declare thy name unto my brethern: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
This was a certainty with David in verse 22. When he would be delivered from anything, he would give praise to God. The same plot of land, the threshing floor which David had bought was also the same space Abraham was in when he built the altar to God in order to sacrifice his own son Issac.
23 Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26 The meek shall eat ad be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: your heart shall live forever.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 For the kingdom is the Lord's: and he is the governor among the nations.
29 All they that be fat upon the earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
God has never despised or abhorred the affliction. God often brings the affliction upon your persons. David speaks of 3 groups of people and Paul would repeat then the righteous, the sinner, and the ungodly.
We pursue so much in life which are pure vanity, you should be working in the field every day. The devil doesn't want God to have his remnant.
Do you realize how many prophetic words have been spoken upon this generation? All the churches are wrong. Tribulation is for the church itself. Look at the people who stood up in their season. They followed God and became a seed to righteousness for their generation. You can't grab a hold of Jesus and retain the old man. Either you are a seed for a generation, or you are firewood.
Think of the people who laid their garments down for at the triumphant entry. They laid their garments and took off their covering, exposing themselves to the king. A lot of us are clothed yet are seen in our nakedness. God raises the seed from wherever he wants to. No matter what the future is God is going to do what he wants to do. You are going to have to fight to be in this crowd.
The answers to all your issues and problems are all in the scripture. You want to be in the number of those who are talked down to for how you pray and baptized. You are either going to be or not be that seed.
