Let Your Things Be Done In Love by Brother Curtis Hansen
Continuing from last week; I spoke about spiritual awakening and growing your awareness. Three points of last Sunday's message was identity, awareness, and conviction. Men are given 3 things in life 1) work to enjoy 2) a will to obey and 3) a woman to love.
We are going back to the scripture from last Sunday, 1 Corinthians 16. but we will focus on verse 14.
14 Let all your things be done with chairty.
Real manhood is expressed through strength under self-control. Not in strength with say large muscles and might but strength by not following through with what your flesh defaults to when physical strength is required. You have to submit to God. You will need strength and you need to learn how to control.
1) Step into the responsibility. Boyhood avoids all responsibility. Adulthood embraces it. As a man you will want to be a leader and the wife is called to be the support. Every job in the house is the men.
Strength isn't physical feats of might. It's being rooted in the word. Godly men don't make excuses they are making moves. Men in the bible lived with boundaries and standards. Where are you avoiding responsibility in your life? Strength isn't about dominance, it's about discipline. True strength is 1) Saying no to sin 2) Staying faithful when life gets hard. God called you to be a part of the church body. In the body, you have the 5-fold ministry to support your walk and inform it. 3) Leading when it gets uncomfortable. You get paid off the decisions you make. Leadership has some turns where you get into uncomfortable spots.
How do you kill sin? Admit you have a problem and start finding the solution. Fight the lie with honesty.
There are 3 things men struggle with in life 1) lust 2) laziness 3) pride and 4) isolation. A rebellious person will give into temptation. A self-righteous person will give into legalism. All being asked of you is to follow Jesus.
Work more into discipline over desire. Discipline gets you further. Strong men are not ruled by impulses. You can start with food. God is offering a chance to rule your obedience.
Do everything in love. How effective is your light and your witness. Aggressive in love- with discipline, communication, and in your walk. Love separates godly strength from toxic masculinity. Strength without love is harsh. Leadership without love is damaging.
Jesus as the model is strong enough to flip tables and clean out the temple but also quiet and humble enough to wash his disciples' feet.
If you get the opportunity later, read Ephesians 6:10-20. It's the description of the armor of God he wants his believers to wear. There's some good stuff in there.
You aren't fighting people, you're fighting something greater in the spirit. Everything is tied to truth as far as the armor is worn. Truth will lead you to Jesus' righteousness. Truth, righteousness, peace, along with faith are there in that armor. The fiery darts the enemy throws at you are doubt.
