Compromised Leadership by Brother Curtis Hansen

Good morning. This message is going to be focused on bloodlines. We are going to be reading from chapter 4 of Exodus. The story is about alignment with Moses. Now, in chapter 3, Moses was at the burning bush, his calling, and his many objections toward God. God pursued Moses because Moses was the calling. God overcame every objection that Moses had given. We are going to be reading verses 24-26 in Exodus.

24 And it came to pass by the way of the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and sais, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.

26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.

Moses got his head wrapped around his mission of the Lord sought to kill him. This doesn't make sense at first but this is where the alignment comes in. Moses had neglected the covenant sign (Genesis 17:10) of the old testament. The physical sign was of circumcision. This is about obedience before your calling. You can become so busy it leads you to compromise. We have the same fear as Moses had, which is rejection.

Moses had a divine calling. Some of you have a calling as well. Circumcision was not optional in the old testament. Not being raised with his birth parents didn't give Moses an out. God will confront compromised leadership. Each and every one of us is some seat of leadership. His grace does not cover the compromise.

Moses had not consecrated himself. You don't know principalities and power could be placed on you rather than the devil. Jesus would place things in your life that may seem to your flesh as the devil.

Let's talk a little more about alignment. Sometimes it isn't your fault because you may not know all the principles of scripture. Moses knew rules in the carnal world. You need to pray and seek out where your bloodline has been and experienced. God is upholding a line of holiness and will not allow Moses to represent him because Moses had not held up his standard.

God forms his leaders before he uses them. He applies trials and challenges to give the leadership its form. This principle is seen over and over again. When God has a high calling for you, he will not be content with you being mediocre or wishy washy. After this confrontation, Moses consecrated himself.

Before Jacob becomes Israel, God wrestled with him. Peter didn't become Pentecost without forgiveness.

Zipporah's role in this scripture. She didn't hesitate to act because she didn't want to die. She was a Midianite wife of Moses. If you go to Genesis 25:1 you see she came from Midian, who was from Abraham. How is Moses going to give all the laws when he failed to follow the law of holiness that was known. 2 points. She sees what Moses won't. She acts what Moses won't do. Sometimes, God uses those to us who are close to pull us in on the path.

You cannot represent God without his covenant. The blood costs you as what it cost Moses. Holiness is costly. You will miss out on good things on earth because of holiness. When obedience is applied, judgement is backed off.

Don't confuse calling for readiness. Jesus said you will deal with lust, greed, and pride. Fasting conquers lust. Giving defeats greed. Prayer will defeat pride. This principle in Exodus still applies today. The covenant is the water. Leaders fall not from gifting, but a lack of alignment.
