Allow and Let by Brother Duke Hansen
This morning we are going to start in the book of Hebrews and then we will read a few verses from James chapter 1. We will begin with chapter 2 of Hebrews, beginning with verse 1.
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, less at any time we should let them slip.
There's a lot of people out in the world who say you can't backslide too far away from God, You cannot backslide from something you never truly found. You cannot grow in God if you don't consistently seek the light of God.
2 For if the word is spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience receied a just recompense of reward;
Angels visited and spoke to different people in the old testament. If you seek darkness and deal with darkness, don't be shocked by darkness getting into your life. You are going to reap what you sow. The word of God needs to be spoken in this day, uprooting and shaken at it's reproof.
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
There is a five fold ministry established for you to consult and not angels as in the old testament. There people heard God speak, but it was also confirmed by them.
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
Now we will turn to the book of James chapter 1. We will be reading starting at verse 1.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad greeting.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
You are going to fall into temptation, now more than ever before. We have created our own algorithms to keep us at that line.
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that te may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
If you obtain and you let God slip, God will slip away from you. You can't talk someone to do something that you don't like.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
If you have the choice between doing things God's way or the world's way, you will pick the world's way even if it's harder than God's way. It's easier to live in sin rather than let and allow. You want God to fight your battles? Shut your mouth and pray. The outcome will be better.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of grass he shall pass away.
11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower therof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth, so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
The crown of life. Isn't that what our goal is in this walk? God is not tempting you. It isn't the devil messing with you, it's your own flesh. The flesh will kill your faith by placing it in other things rather than God.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
To allow or let is to gird up your loins. Real strength is in allowing and resistance. What should be on your mind should be I want a better outcome. Let and allow will promote growth in your spiritual life. Set down your burdens, put aside negativity, and be of good cheer.
We are going to the book of 2 Timothy chapter 4. We will be starting at verse 1.
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make proof of thy ministry.
Watch. Keep your eye on all things and be sober minded. Endure afflictions. Sometimes God will set an affliction upon to draw you closer to him. Put the work into your life until your life comes alive.
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
What is fighting a good fight? Your deliverance doesn't look like what you think it will look like. If you afflict your flesh you will see what the scripture says. Keeping the faith is rewarding in the end.
