Using Your 5 Senses by Brother Duke Hansen

This morning we will be reading our scripture from the 2nd letter to Timothy. We will be reading from the 3rd chapter and beginning at verse 1. This chapter written to Timothy is braced in the last days with the theme of being a doer of God and not just a hearer of the word. If what you do in your life is not rooted in scripture, you are doing your works to satisfy your flesh.

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

Jesus instructed his disciples to preach about the perilous times and the last days. This is why Paul beings chapter 3 with this opening verse. In this chapter, Paul catalogs the various sins and iniquities which are in church assemblies. Job had prophesied of the last days which Jesus would reference in his ministry. His apostles wrote of the last days as well.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good.

We are the most discontent people of all time. We have so much to aid and guide us in our life, we are now always wanting more. There's no bottom or end to our want and desire.

        4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Verse 5 can refer to the christian denominations that speak about the holy spirit in passing, yet don't seek after it, not feel it, but rather turn or squash it. 2 Thessalonians 3:6 instructs you the believer to withdraw from disorderly brethren. We can discern a lot of things, biyt or flesh can hide other things well.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

People who look, speak, and act godly in public but are not is what Paul is referring in verse 6.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

Now, the question to ask yourself today and through out the week is; How can I transform into being a doer? Well, for starters, if you examine others for fault and ignore your own personal wrong, keep your mouth quiet. Bridle your tongue around others. The soul is you and some of you don't know who you truly are. For many of us, our flesh covered and distracted our being aware of what should truly be focused and work on.

We operate our waking moments by using out 5 senses. Sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. We put our faith in what our senses perceive. We believe what we can see, yet 5 people could all look at one thing, and tell you 5 different answers.

There are many scriptures written about our 5 senses. The first one is smell. Smell discerns what's fresh or spoiled. There are scriptures like Genesis 8:20-21, Ecclesiastes 10:1, John 12:3, 2 Corinthians 2:15.

There are scriptures written about hearing. Romans 10:17. Books such as James and Jeremiah, Proverbs, and Luke.

5 senses in the world has to be put under and we need to amplify our 5 senses in the spirit. God is subtle in his messaging his people. The book says that you are not guaranteed tomorrow. In life, you are a steward over what you have been given.

Touch is all through out the scripture. The world says if it feels good, do it and ignore the consequences. Search and study taste in the scripture.

An ongoing problem today is that everyone thinks their opinion on anything is valuable and completely correct. It rains on the just and unjust alike. We still want to operate in emotion.

What is the truth? Conviction is made for repentance. The difference between failure and success is figuring out who God is and who you are in him. Search and study the scripture for what your role is in this world. Nothing in the scripture defines you as a victim.

There's a holiness in God that we can achieve when we begin to search the scripture to use your 5 senses in the spirit.
