Miraculous Multiplication by Brother Curtis Hansen

We are first going to turn to the book of 2nd Kings the 4th chapter. We will be reading the first seven verses of the chapter.

1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knows that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in thy house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil.

3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

4 And when thou art come in, thou shall shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all the vessels, and thou shall set aside that which is full.

5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.

6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said to her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, and sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

The scripture tells the story of the widow with a debt, and the miracle she received following Elisha's instruction which would get her out of her debt.

God has created everything we need already. It is up to us to make the change needed to make good on a blessing. Much like Elisha then, even today God is asking us "What do you have?"

The prophet Samuel had established a school in which trained people who were seeking to get in the ministry. The widow's husband in the scripture had run such a school.

Let us go to 1 Kings chapter 18. We will read the first 4 verses.

1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

2 And Elijah went to show himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.

3 And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:

4 For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them in a cave, and fed them bread and water.)

In this scripture we see Obadiah is borrowing money to feed and nourish 100 prophets that he was hiding from King Ahab and Jezebel. When Obadiah passed away, his widow inherited his debt.

The widow places herself in the right place at the right time and asks the right questions. Elisha established and grew the work which Samuel had started. Elisha was comfortable with the oil. There are three different miracles regarding oil.

Elisha asked what the widow had to work with. He is attempting to inventory what she has in order to help her. Sometimes, we have more to give to God than we realize in our life. Note in verse 2 the humility that the widow displays.

The miracle is not for everybody, it is for you. The difference how you explain the miracle to those around you. Go back to the question "What can I do for you?" If you ever get to writing down goals for yourself, you should keep things realistic. Do an inventory on what you have to work with this year. Don't think of it in the carnal sense with your human nature, but with your spiritual sense. God will take what you have and has you do the work. This is the starting point for your miracle. You only need to trust in God and the process he has laid out for you today.
